These standards include the terms and conditions for the type and variety of plants, its production area, methods of sterilization, means of transportation etc. The table at right shows the items currently being imported under this system. During export seasons, Japanese plant quarantine officials are sent abroad to witness the sterilization treatment and export inspection conducted by the authorities of exporting countries.
